I designed this template last year for a forum called Forum Junkies, hosted by Excoboard. The design used a fluid layout (a challenge for me at the time), with fluid head and base images, and a large resizable banner that extended across the top of the page. The pixeltech style was typical of much of my work at that time, and I’m still rather proud of the techy pipes on the banner.
Ocgfx version 2 was created in September 2006, and is probably one of my finest forum designs to date. A ton of detail went into creating this design, esp’ the icons (inc’ animated smilies), and was greatly influenced by my love for pixel art.
Pixel Fortress version one was my first design using Excoboards, and involved quite a large number of template modifications for the divided categories, head and base images, and other stuff; something Excoboard allow you to do directly in the html template without needing to resort to JavaScript hacks. The design was created largely using Microsoft’s paint, with a few touch ups (such as the drop shadow effects) in Paint Shop Pro.
The graphic design of Pixel Fortress version Two was a major advancement in my ability to create digital art. I was majorly proud and amazed at this design, and at the time I wouldn’t of thought it possible to create something in this style without a really powerful graphics program such as Photoshop. I used Paint Shop Pro entirely, and worked really hard on the code mods.
I intended using this temp as a premade until a friend said that she was interested in using it for a social anxiety forum. The design is based on a pixel art mock up I created for proboards, although the real thing was created for Excoboard.
Arcane Prelude was the first of two pre-made template I created for Excoboard. The navi/logo table was quite complex for me at the time.
I also have created a number of premade templates for Proboards.

[…] I’ve only had a PC since 2004, and so I’m still a bit of a Internet Noob. I originally intended to use the computer to help study mythology, but I soon learned how to create graphics, mainly for forum templates. Eventually I learned XHTML, and CSS. I have spent months learning JavaScript, and while I have pretty much all the basics covered, I’m still a long way off using it for anything worth while. […]

I really like Arcane Prelude. You should come back to Excoboard, and add it as a Template Design. I for one, would relish the thought of using it.

Hi, Robert. I’ve sorry, but I designed that blog for Form Junkies alone (for excoboard).

Will you do anything for Invision boards?

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve made forum templates/skins. I’ll check out Invision. Have they improved over the past couple of years?

I don’t really know, since I discovered them recently, but I know that they have a new type of board called “ZetaBoards”. The overall design is different, and I don’t know if the inner workings have changed. If you want to see Zeta, their help site uses that. To see the old one, try my site. I hope you can make some for Invision

Oh yeah, if you want to see the Admin Control Panel, I made you an account. Username is Mahud, password is skateboardeddie. Mess around if you need, I don’t care.
