A tribute to one of my favourite all time bands, The Can.
‘All appointed to the definite beautiful’ is a line from the track Father Cannot Yell, track one from the album Monster Movie.

I designed this template last year for a forum called Forum Junkies, hosted by Excoboard. The design used a fluid layout (a challenge for me at the time), with fluid head and base images, and a large resizable banner that extended across the top of the page. The pixeltech style was typical of much of my work at that time, and I’m still rather proud of the techy pipes on the banner.

I haven’t been a very active blogger lately, for various reasons, so I thought I’d show off the revamped version of the “Kid” logo for my next redesign.
I’m not that wise in the ways of the Pen Tool (PSP), and it took me a few hours getting it right, learning a few things along the way too (which is a bonus), mostly using the Bezier Curves tool.
Kid originally started out as a comic character I created a few years ago, called “The Mundane and Amazing Adventures of Kid”

Sheepdip is a free Standards Compliant (xhtml.strict) Widget Compatible Wordpress Theme, immaculately coded for your downloading pleasure. It consists of two main templates for the index and single page (see previews below), with a fixed width of 760px.
I’ve kept the CSS down to a bare minimum, using only a small number of id and class names, without sacrificing the design. The template uses 10 compressed .jpg images, including images (rather than styling) for the dotted borders, that would otherwise appear dashed in Internet Explorer 6. I have also included images for the submit buttons, which need to be added directly to the xhtml template.

Signature banners are about self expression through a combination of words and images, and are also a form of Online digital art. Many digital artists and graphic designers begin their careers by making signature banners and avatars for themselves and others.

It’s amazing that communication via the internet could be enhanced through these little guys, but without them, we would have greater difficulty expressing how we feel. They aid us greatly in communicating our intentions, good or bad etc, with a
, a
, or a simple
, at the end of a friendly sentence.
